Seeing spots

Pointillism landscapeThis is the pointillism picture I did at the beginning of Studio Survey last year. It’s based on the style of Georges Seurat and yes, those are individual dots of color that make up the painting. No brushstrokes allowed. The painting is only 4″x6″, so it may actually show up bigger on the screen than it is in real life. Although it was way tedious to do, it’s actually one of my favorite things from last year. I’m thinking about doing another one–a landscape again, or possibly a portrait. (acrylic on paper, 4×6″)

The beach

Beach pastelSmall untitled pastel I did over the summer while I should have been doing summer reading. Interesting that the palm leaves look much better on the computer screen than they actually do in the picture. I like that it looks slightly looser than my general style. (pastel, 9×12″)
